Conway OB-GYN introduces new physician [sponsored content]

Dr. Katie Burton-Cox is the newest physician at Conway Obstetrics and Gynecology. She will begin seeing patients in January 2018.

A native of Malvern, Arkansas, Dr. Burton-Cox earned her undergraduate degree from Hendrix College and attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She obtained her OB-GYN training at St. Louis University. Shortly after completing her residency in the summer of 2017, she and her husband welcomed their first child.

“My husband and I have been focused on raising our son, Andrew, and getting settled into our new life in Conway,” Dr. Burton-Cox said. “I’m excited to work with everyone at Conway OB-GYN. The nurses, medical staff and physicians are top-notch and have been so friendly and welcoming. Also, as a new doctor, I am fortunate to be at a practice where I have access to potential mentors from a surgical, clinical and business aspect.”

Before she entered the medical field, Dr. Burton-Cox decided to explore other career paths and worked at a software company for electronic medical records. After a year, she realized she needed to be on the clinical side and attended nursing school at UAMS. It was after she witnessed the birth of a child that Dr. Burton-Cox knew obstetrics and gynecology was the right fit. She enrolled in medical school after a year of nursing school.

“OB-GYN is such a unique specialty in that I get to take care of women at all stages of their lives – from their first gynecological appointment to having children to transitioning to menopause. It’s such a special relationship. I know I’ll never forget the doctor who delivered my first baby.”

Dr. Burton-Cox looks forward to creating new doctor-patient relationships at Conway OB-GYN in January. She practices at the clinic’s College Avenue location. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Burton-Cox, call 501-327-6547.
